A group of 50 singers from the Young Voices of Melbourne (YVM) will be touring Tasmania in July to perform at Hobart’s Festival of Voices.
Prior to the festival YVM, along with musical director Mark O’Leary and composer Malcolm Dalglish, will be visiting Launceston on the weekend of 5th and 6th July 2014. GLYS and the Scotch Oakburn Junior School Choir will join the members of YVM for a day of music making with Mark and Malcolm which will culminate in a concert on Sunday afternoon. All three groups will perform sets of their own repertoire and will then join to perform Malcolm Dalglish’s beautiful song ‘Sail Away’ as a massed choir. GLYS will perform ‘Waka Waka,’the theme song from the 2010 Soccer World Cup, ‘Blackbird’ by the Beatles and ‘Touch The Sky’ from the movie ‘Brave’ for the first time.
This concert will be held at the Horton Auditorium at the Scotch Oakburn Senior Campus on Penquite Road at 4pm on Sunday 6th July.
