Performances 2016

glys-sep-2016

During 2016 GLYS have been busy performing at a number of other concerts in Launceston.
In May, GLYS and Vox Harmony entertained an appreciative audience with a number of pieces from their repertoire which included ‘Scarborough Fair,’ ‘Over The Sea To Skye,’ ‘Space Oddity’ and the jazzy ‘Save The Bones for Henry Jones.’ Some of the GLYS members also performed in the parent/child ensemble (many GLYS parents are members of Vox Harmony), the all male ensemble and the siblings ensemble (there are 2 sets of siblings in GLYS)
In September, GLYS performed at a concert entitled ‘How Can I Keep From Singing’ at the Salvation Army Citadel. New repertoire at this concert included ‘I’se The B’y,’ ‘Amazing (just the Way you are)’ and the African ‘Dubula.’ GLYS continue to impress with their beautiful tone quality.
GLYS were once again a guest performer on both nights of Singfest at the Albert Hall at the end of September. Some of the GLYS kids were even ushers at this event!!

Several of our GLYS members performed in Opera Australia’s The Marriage of Figaro at a packed Princess Theatre on the 6th September. After months of rehearsing the chorus parts of this famous Mozart opera with GLYS director Denise, the children had a wonderful time performing with some of Australia’s finest opera singers in front of an appreciative audience. The children truly looked and sounded beautiful so congratulations to them and Denise!!
