Opera Australia’s The Magic Flute
Wednesday September 17th September at the Princess Theatre, Launceston.
GLYS in Magic Flute Costume
Term 3 was a term devoted to learning the 3-part choruses for The Magic Flute. GLYS participated in a whole day workshop with Alex from Opera Australia on Saturday 13th September. This workshop worked on ‘blocking’ where GLYS were to stand during their songs and where they were to enter and exit the stage from. Alex also workshopped the music and passed on some very valuable tips about various aspects of singing. GLYS finished the day feeling very prepared for their debut Opera performance.
GLYS arrived at the Princess Theatre on Wednesday 17th September at 3.30pm and then participated in costume fittings, a tour of the set, a run through of their positions and then finally a rehearsal with the orchestra and cast. Finally, the theatre was live and it was ready to perform to a large Launceston audience. GLYS’ performance was outstanding and was very well-received by the audience and the members of Opera Australia.
The Magic Flute was an unforgettable experience for all involved.
